Vocabulary

chaîne :  warp of cotton yarns stretched on the loom 

lisse : loop of cotton into which each yarn of the warp is threaded 

métier à lisses : a special device used to calibrate the length of the lisses

crenille : skein of cotton yarn used to fabricate the warp 

ourdissoir : roller used to build up the crenilles

grattoir : (scraper) small metallic tool  used when weaving in order to adjust the position of the wool along the warp's yarns 

peigne : (comb) small tool made out of box-tree wood used to squeeze the weaving onto a few centimeters 

flûte : small cylindrical object made out of box-tree wood onto which is wound the wool used by the weaver
